A community journal grown up: celebrating 20 years of Climate of the Past
25 April 2025
Since 2005, Climate of the Past has been a leading platform for open-access publication, with a commitment to transparent peer review. The journal spans the four key domains of paleoclimate science: ice, ocean, land, and modeling – each reflected in its cover design and embodied by the expertise of its co-editors-in-chief.
Just 2 years after its launch, Climate of the Past was indexed in the Web of Science, and now, 2 decades later, it stands as a globally respected journal and a cornerstone of the paleoclimate community.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this journey – authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers alike. Your collective dedication and support have shaped Climate of the Past into the success it is today. Working alongside all of you has been a true privilege!
The 20th anniversary will be celebrated in two steps.
- The first one is happening during the EGU General Assembly 2025 in Vienna. The event will take place on Thursday, 1 May, in Foyer F from 18:00 to 19:00 and is open to all.
- The second step will be a series of webinars also open to all and to be announced soon after EGU25.
We look forward to commemorating this milestone with you!
